Artist Statement

I’m compelled to make artwork for the joy and the endless challenge of the creative process. The beauty of nature, the human form, and the complexities of the modern world are my inspiration and motivation.

I work primarily with found object materials, scrap metals, construction scrap, and salvaged timber. The history and patinas of these materials brings character to the work, and the repurposing of the ‘waste materials’ is satisfying. Similarly, I’ve built a backyard shop from materials I’ve salvaged from construction jobs through the years, which has helped facilitate the production of my new work.
